One of the most highly anticipated EVs from BMW is the all-electric 5-Series, known as the 2024 BMW i5.
Set to be delivered this fall, the 2024 BMW i5 aims to live up to the expectations of an electric BMW.
Overall, BMW is making significant strides in electrifying its lineup to ensure it stays competitive as electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly popular.
The German automaker has already introduced several electric models in the North American market, including the BMW i3, BMW i4, BMW iX, and BMW i7.
And now comes the 2024 i5, which will be available in two configurations: the i5 eDrive40 and the i5 M60 xDrive.

The i5 M60 xDrive boasts incredible power, thanks to its dual motors that deliver up to 590 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque.
With such impressive performance, the i5 M60 xDrive can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. This means that the electric i5 M60 xDrive outperforms its gas-powered counterpart, the 5-Series, in terms of speed and power.
Notable features:
- The all-electric i5 M60 boasts standard xDrive dual-motor all-wheel drive and dual electric motors for exhilarating performance and efficiency.
- Standard on the i5 M60 Sedan, the powerful 17-speaker, 655-watt Bowers & Wilkins Surround System fills the cabin with rich and layered sound.
- Standard M Sport Brakes with blue calipers – or your choice of red calipers with the optional M Sport Professional Package – make a powerful pairing on the pavement with up to 21-inch M Wheels.
- Adaptive Suspension Professional is standard in the 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive. You’ll experience the feel of complete control on every drive – thanks to electronically controlled dampers.
The i5 eDrive40 is equipped with a rear motor that produces 335 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
While it may have less power than the i5 M60 xDrive, it offers a longer electric range. The BMW i5 eDrive40 can travel up to 295 miles on a full battery charge, whereas the i5 M60 xDrive has a range of up to 256 miles. The sedan accelerated from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
This range difference is due to the i5 M60 xDrive’s higher power output, which demands more energy.
