One of the biggest changes coming to the 2024 BMW Series 5 is the introduction of an all-electric powertrain option. This will be a first for the 5 Series and signals BMW’s commitment to electric vehicles. The EV model of the redesigned new BMW 5 Series, called the i5, will come standard with adaptive suspension and four-wheel steering—”presumably to handle the added weight of the car’s batteries as well as its longer wheelbase,” Car & Driver noted.

Great Interior with Enhanced Technology.

The German automaker has created the next-generation 5-series sedan alongside the all-electric i5 variant and a performance-oriented M5 sports sedan. BMW is known for its advanced technology features, and all of the 2024 BMW Series 5 models will be packed with that cutting-edge tech.

Expect improved driver assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning, as well as an updated infotainment system with a larger touchscreen display. The 5-series models have a spacious cabin chock full of luxury. “The 5-series’s new digital dashboard features BMW’s iDrive 8.5 interface, and the company’s hands-free driver-assistance system is available, too,” Car & Driver noted.

The 2024 BMW 5 Series will feature a sleeker, more modern design with a longer, wider body. The front grille will be larger and more prominent, and the headlights will be slimmer and more angular.

Improved Performance.

The new BMW Series 5 will come with a range of powertrain options, including an all-electric and a hybrid powertrain as well as a performance-oriented M model. These will deliver improved horsepower and torque, as well as improved fuel efficiency. “Although the 5-series has been redesigned for 2024, it’s offered with familiar powertrains and trim levels, starting with an entry-level 530i model and culminating in a more powerful 540i xDrive trim,” Car & Driver reported.

Moreover, a plug-in hybrid is joining the lineup later on. The magazine noted that the 5-series will be offered only in 530i and 540i models, with the former getting a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and either rear- or all-wheel drive while the 540i comes with all-wheel drive standard as well as a 375-hp turbocharged inline-six. Both versions are augmented by a 48-volt hybrid system with the 540i powerful enough to get you from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, according to BMW.
